Baseball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They came up short against Thurston-Cuming County, falling 6-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Broncos were not able to get on the board.

As for Thurston-Cuming County, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They haven't had any issues with Centennial recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

For Thurston-Cuming County's part, Jake Schuster made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Schuster has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Roth, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trevor Trimble, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Looking ahead, Centennial will face off against Adams Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Thurston-Cuming County, they will be playing at home against Guardian Angels Central Catholic/West Point Beemer at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
