Recap: Sandhills Valley Mavericks vs. Maxwell Wildcats
This season hasn't been kind to the Sandhills Valley Mavericks, who are still winless after their 12th game. They were dealt a 56-18 loss at the hands of Maxwell on Thursday. Sandhills Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-8.
Maxwell's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jocelyn Cheek, who scored 12 points along with four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Flock, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Sandhills Valley bumped their record down to 0-12 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Maxwell, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sandhills Valley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hyannis on January 30th. Maxwell will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Perkins County at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th.
