Soccer Game Preview: Lennard vs. Lakewood Ranch

The Lennard Longhorns will face off against the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lennard is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

Lennard is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Manatee a 5-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won seven matchups by four goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Lakewood Ranch had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Bobcats. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Bobcats are ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lakewood Ranch's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those three games. As for Lennard, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Lennard suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Lakewood Ranch when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Lennard avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
