Basketball Recap: Bainbridge-Guilford Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Bainbridge-Guilford can now relate to. They fell 58-45 to the Southern Cayuga Chiefs on Wednesday. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chiefs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayslin Henderson, who posted 11 points and four steals. Henderson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Peyton Umbra, who scored ten points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

With the defeat, Bainbridge-Guilford broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-7. As for Southern Cayuga, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Bainbridge-Guilford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southern Cayuga, they will challenge Newark Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
