Basketball Game Preview: San Juan Broncos vs. Grand County Red Devils

San Juan and Grand County are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The San Juan Broncos will face off against the Grand County Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

San Juan is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Duchesne on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. San Juan had to suffer through a 67-17 loss at the hands of Duchesne. The Broncos were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-4.

Meanwhile, Grand County was beaten by North Summit 68-36 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Braves are ranked seventh).

San Juan will need focus on slowing down Trinity Bryant, one of several Grand County players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 21 points. Another player making a difference was Ainsleigh Kasprick, who had 11 points and four steals.

San Juan has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Grand County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

San Juan suffered a grim 66-40 defeat to Grand County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can San Juan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
