Cupertino hadn't done well against Monta Vista recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Pioneers skirted past the Matadors 2-1. The win was nothing new for the Pioneers as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Their offense was headlined by Sophia Song and April Pamichev, who picked up 11 kills apiece. Song really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 15. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Despite the loss, Monta Vista still got an impressive performance from Srahi Bobbili, who had 14 digs and three aces.

Cupertino's victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Monta Vista, they moved to 18-8 with that defeat, which also ended their four-match winning streak.
