Preview: Oxford Chargers vs. Horn Lake Eagles
The Oxford Chargers will head out on the road to challenge the Horn Lake Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oxford is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Oxford ended up a good deal behind Lewisburg and lost 44-30. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oxford in their matchups with Lewisburg: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Horn Lake's five-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 36-33 victory over Murrah. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Horn Lake has posted yet this season.
Oxford has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Horn Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.
Everything came up roses for Oxford against Horn Lake in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 63-32 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oxford since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
