Softball Recap: Lago Vista Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Win

Lago Vista waltzed into their matchup on Friday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They never let the LBJ Austin Jaguars get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-0 back in March.

Winter Callahan was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Sabrina Phillips and Sydney Mosser did most of the damage at the plate: Phillips went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and one RBI, while Mosser went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Phillips has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Audrey Ferguson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Lago Vista kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Lago Vista pushed their record up to 12-9 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for LBJ Austin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Coincidentally, Lago Vista and LBJ Austin will both be playing Northeast Early College the next time they take the field. The Vikings will head out to face the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Jaguars will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on the 14th.
