Football Recap: West Davidson Dragons vs. Providence Grove Patriots
West Davidson entered their matchup against Providence Grove on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Dragons and the Patriots were almost perfectly matched up, but the Dragons suffered a 23-22 loss. If the Dragons were looking for revenge after losing 36-28 to the Patriots when the teams met back in August of 2016, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Carson Correll and Evan Everhart certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Correll rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns, while Everhart rushed for 106 yards and one score on only 12 carries.
Providence Grove had a senior duo take command as Jackson Lawver threw for 186 yards and a pair of TDs and Andrew Thomas gained 89 total yards and two touchdowns. Thomas didn't just play on offense: he also made two total tackles and defended two passes. Providence Grove also got a significant boost from Nick Straughn, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
West Davidson suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 3-3. As for Providence Grove, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
