The Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes will face off against the Macomb Bombers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Abingdon/Avon sitting on three straight wins and Macomb on ten.
Abingdon/Avon's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Biggsville West Central 9-0. The Tornadoes not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10th (when they won 12-0).

Alex Foutch made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Abingdon/Avon is 6-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Foutch was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Drey Anderson was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April. Cooper Anderson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Macomb sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Beardstown on Wednesday.
The team relied heavily on Nick Elbe, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI. Emmett Beck was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Macomb pushed their record up to 16-13 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Abingdon/Avon, their record is now 12-10.
Abingdon/Avon was able to grind out a solid win over Macomb in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. Will the Tornadoes repeat their success, or do the Bombers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
