Softball Recap: Terrell Tigers vs. Kaufman Lions

Terrell had lost nine straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 9-22 to make it ten. They fell just short of the Kaufman Lions by a score of 10-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-10 back in March.

Preslie Pritchett was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Bella Cutchall also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

As for Kaufman, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-13-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 9th.

On Kaufman's side, Isabella Phiffer and Carley Gunnels did most of the damage at the plate: Phiffer got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI, while Gunnels went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Gunnels has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Phillips, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Terrell and Kaufman could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Tigers (ranked 907th) will meet Midlothian (ranked 119th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Kaufman will take on Midlothian Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (808 vs. 158).
