Volleyball Recap: Lima Central Catholic Takes a Loss

After flying high against Jefferson on Tuesday, Lima Central Catholic came back down to earth. The Thunderbirds took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bluffton Pirates on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost five in a row.

Lima Central Catholic was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Bluffton work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 22-25, 25-19, 25-16.

Vanessa Cross had a dynamite game For Bluffton., getting 28 digs and three aces. Those 28 digs gave Cross a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adelyn Althaus, who had 19 assists and four digs.

Lima Central Catholic's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-4. As for Bluffton, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Lima Central Catholic will take on Parkway at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bluffton, they will welcome Carey at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
