Baseball Recap: Russellville Takes a Loss

Russellville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 17-15 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lawrence County Red Devils. That's two games in a row now that the Golden Tigers have lost by exactly two runs.

Russellville got a massive performance out of Brayden Entrekin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Tristan Ray was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Russellville's loss dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Lawrence County, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 19-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Russellville will take on Hartselle at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Golden Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lawrence County, they will head out on the road to challenge Priceville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Red Devils surely won't give up without a fight.
