After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Beaumont, Redlands East Valley was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Citrus Valley Blackhawks, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their nine-game losing streak.

Redlands East Valley took Citrus Valley into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19, 21-19.

Mark Huynh paced Redlands East Valley's offense, picking up 30 kills. Huynh got some help from Giovanni Carissimi and his 50 assists. Finally, Huynh was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Redlands East Valley's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 4-16. As for Citrus Valley, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-17.

Looking ahead, Redlands East Valley will be taking part in a tournament against Redlands at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Citrus Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
