Softball Recap: El Dorado Takes a Loss

If El Dorado was feeling good fresh off their 7-1 takedown of Warren on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The El Dorado Golden Hawks came up short against the Whittier Christian Heralds on Saturday, falling 10-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Golden Hawks, who until this match were averaging four runs allowed.

Kaitlyn Clark was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Sydney Hwang was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Even though they lost, El Dorado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .382 or higher in five consecutive contests.

El Dorado's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Whittier Christian, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

El Dorado wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-0 victory against Yorba Linda on the 4th. As for Whittier Christian, they will be taking part in a tournament against Kofa at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Whittier Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Kofa's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
