League recap: Toerner overpowering for Golden Valley in past week

South Yosemite league recap: 4/3/13

Austin Toerner was the top pitcher in South Yosemite this week, leading Golden Valley. Over the past week, he racked up one win and 20 strikeouts.

Felipe Soto had the hottest bat in the league this week, racking up a .409 average with six RBIs. Mira Monte went 0-2.

Ridgeview's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 21 hits and five walks, both of which led the league.

Mira Monte's 43 strikeouts this week were a league-worst, but West has struck out more times (116) than any other team this year.

The league boasted six .400 hitters over the past week. Leading the pack was Omar Gamboa, who hit .667 by going 6-for-9.



Toerner led the Bulldogs to a win on April 2, as he notched 15 strikeouts to beat South, 6-1. Over his seven innings pitched he allowed one run on two hits.
