Volleyball Recap: Rantoul Eagles vs. Oakwood Comets

After losing to Oakwood the last time they met, Rantoul decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Rantoul Eagles won by a set and slipped past the Oakwood Comets 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Rantoul got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-22, 19-25, 25-17.

Airiana Bell paced Rantoul's offense, picking up 15 kills. Bell got some help from Lauren Herbert and her 31 assists. Herbert also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Josie Roseman, racking up two apiece.

Several Comets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kendyl Rogers, who had 11 kills, five digs, and two aces. That's the most aces Rogers has posted in her last seven matches. Another player making a difference was Quinn Sperry, who had three digs, two kills, and 22 assists.

Rantoul's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-18. As for Oakwood, their loss dropped their record down to 9-17.

Rantoul will face off against Mt. Zion at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oakwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
