Volleyball Recap: Laguna Beach Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Laguna Beach had to endure a seven-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Sage Hill Lightning on Friday.

While Laguna Beach might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Sage Hill scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, 29-27.

Kai Patchell paced Laguna Beach's offense, picking up 25 kills. Patchell got some help from Ben Goodwin and his 39 assists. Patchell was also solid from the service line: he led the team with seven aces.

Laguna Beach's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Sage Hill, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Laguna Beach will be playing in front of their home fans against University at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sage Hill, they have already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Oxford Academy on the 8th.
