Softball Recap: Hanover Area Find Success

Hanover Area's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the Mountain View Eagles by a score of 13-10. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hawkeyes needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Madison Ponko was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Natalie Weidner, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Hanover Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hanover Area's victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hanover Area will challenge Crestwood at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Crestwood has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something Hanover Area will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mountain View, they will venture away from home to face off against Lakeland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Mountain View's pitchers better be ready for this one: Lakeland has averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season.
