Basketball Recap: Beatty Takes a Loss

Beatty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 56-25 loss at the hands of the Tonopah Muckers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-16 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Beatty lost, don't look at Caleb Lopez. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points. Those 12 points gave Lopez a new career-high.

Tonopah found their leader in sophomore Landen Blackburn, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. The game was Blackburn's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Drew Otteson, who had nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Beatty's defeat dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Tonopah, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-7.

Beatty has already played their next contest (against Round Mountain), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Tonopah wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 41-26 win against Indian Springs on the 24th.
