Softball Recap: West Broward Extends Winning Streak to Three

West Broward waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Western Wildcats with a sharp 11-1 win. Considering the Bobcats have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Cheyanne Chaffin spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Milian Valdez, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Castillo, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

West Broward was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western only posted a batting average of .136.

West Broward pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Western, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4-1.

West Broward didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-5 loss against St. Thomas Aquinas on the 21st. As for Western, they have also already played their next game, a 4-2 victory against Stoneman Douglas on the 21st.
