Baseball Game Preview: Blair Bears vs. Seward Bluejays

Blair is 8-1 against Seward since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bears will be playing at home against the Bluejays at 6:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

On Saturday, Blair needed a bit of extra time to put away Platte Valley. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Platte Valley 3-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Bears as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jake Gaskill looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Blair's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 4-15 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brevin Leggott, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Jackson Livingston also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Seward owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Concordia/Brownell/Omaha Christian Academy, sneaking past 1-0. The victory continues a trend for the Bluejays in their matchups with Concordia/Brownell/Omaha Christian Academy: they've now won four in a row.

Seward's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Blair, their victory bumped their record up to 6-16.

Blair beat Seward 5-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluejays turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
