Newburgh Free Academy waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 56-51 W against the Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders. This was a revenge game for the Goldbacks: when they faced off against the Crusaders back in January, they had to take a 48-46 loss.

Monroe-Woodbury lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Fabrice Ndja, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 boards. He has become a key player for Monroe-Woodbury: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jamir Johnson, who posted 12 points.

Newburgh Free Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points over those games. As for Monroe-Woodbury, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
