Preseason Montana All-State Football Teams presented by Suddenlink by Altice

The Hamilton quarterback is an All-Montana preseason selection presented by Suddenlink by Altice.

Defending Class AA state champion Billings West leads the way with five players on the Preseason Montana All-State Football Team presented by Suddenlink by Altice.

MaxPreps is compiling a series of All-State teams over the final month of August in preparation for the upcoming 2019 season. The Montana All-State team is the latest in the series.

So far we have zoned in on California, Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Mississippi, with Arkansas and Louisiana coming soon.

First Team Offense

QB — Josh Erbacher, Billings West | Sr. | 6-4 | 190
One of the leading passers in the state as a junior, Erbacher threw for 2,414 yards and 29 touchdowns and earned Class AA all-state honors.

QB — Carson Rostad, Hamilton | Sr. | 6-2 | 190
The top returning passing yardage leader after throwing for 2,794 yards as a junior with 43 touchdown passes. He was a first team Class A all-state player and was MVP of the Southwestern League.



RB — Demarcus Carr, Billings West | Sr. | 5-11 | 175
The leading returning rusher in the state among Class AA players, Carr was first team all-state after rushing for 1,986 yards and 29 touchdowns.

RB — Nelson Crisafulli, Dawson (Glendive) | Sr. | 5-11 | 185
The leading rusher in Class A last year, he rushed for 1,280 yards and 19 touchdowns. The all-state running back also reached the state finals in wrestling last year.

WR — Junior Bergen, Billings Senior | Jr. | 5-10 | 150
A standout on offense and defense, he earned Class AA all-state first team honors after catching 75 passes for 945 yards and 12 touchdowns. Also had six interceptions on defense.

WR — Brandon Coladonato, Hellgate (Missoula) | Sr. | 5-11 | 160
An all-state pick on offense and defense, Coladonato caught 48 passes for 815 yards and four touchdowns last year. He may move to quarterback as a senior.

TE — Jace Fitzgerald, Beaverhead County (Dillon) | Jr. | 6-1 | 185
A Class A all-state pick and a first team overall all-state selection by American Family Insurance, Fitzgerald caught 54 passes for 600 yards and five touchdowns.

OL — Max Anderson, Flathead (Kalispell) | Sr. | 6-4 | 275
Made first team center on the Class AA all-state team.



OL — Konor McClafferty, Butte | Sr. | 6-5 | 210
A second team Class AA all-state selection, McClafferty was first team All-Eastern AA Conference.

OL — Tom Walkup, Bozeman | Sr. | 6-1 | 280
Walkup made the Class AA all-state second team last year and was a first team All-Eastern AA Conference pick.

OL — Jaden Bienvenue, Billings West | Sr. | 6-0 | 240
Joined Walkup on the Class AA all-state second team at offensive guard and was also an All-Eastern AA Conference selection.

OL — Kasee Henderson, Havre | Sr. | 6-5 | 280
A Class A first team all-state selection and a Central A first team pick at tackle.

AP — Tommy Mellott, Butte | Sr. | 6-0 | 180
An honorable mention all-state selection last year, Mellott threw for 2,156 yards and 19 touchdowns and rushed for 881 yards and 11 scores.

K — Camden Capser, Billings Central Catholic (Billings) | Jr. | 6-2 | 150
All-Eastern A Conference selection made four field goals with a long of 42 yards and he also converted 62-of-66 extra points.



First Team Defense

DL — Kenneth Eiden IV, Bozeman | Jr. | 6-0 | 220
Had a huge sophomore season while earning first team Class AA all-state honors. Besides posting 92 tackles, Eiden also had 38 tackles for loss and 21 sacks.

DL — Tanner Russell, Flathead (Kalispell) | Sr. | 6-0 | 170
A Class AA all-state defensive end, Russell blew past offensive linemen for 16 tackles and 25.5 tackles for loss to go with his 70 overall tackles.

DL — Jaquawhann Booth, Billings Central Catholic (Billings) | Jr. | 5-10 | 300
A Class A all-state player, Booth had 43 tackles and four sacks as a sophomore on the varsity.

DL — Hank Rugg, Frenchtown | Sr. | 6-3 | 190
Rugg rung up 12 sacks and 49 tackles while earning Class A all-state honors last year.

LB — McCade O'Reilly, Bozeman | Sr. | 6-0 | 220
A first team Class AA all-state inside linebacker, O'Reilly was among the state leaders with 87 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and three sacks.

LB — Hayden Ferguson, Helena | Sr. | 6-2 | 200
A first team Class AA all-state outside linebacker, Ferguson might see less time on defense this year since he's expected to play quarterback on offense.



LB — Tucker Jones, Hamilton | Sr. | 5-10 | 190
A Class A all-state player for a 12-1 team, Jones had 85 tackles and three sacks last year.

DB — Jace Klucewich, Frenchtown | Jr. | 5-10 | 160
As a sophomore on the varsity, Klucewich had six interceptions and 67 tackles last year to earn Class A all-state honors.

DB — Rollie Worster, Hellgate (Missoula) | Sr. | 6-3 | 205
A top quarterback as well, Worster led the state with 143 tackles. He also threw for 1,789 yards on offense.

DB — Ben Maehl, Big Sky (Missoula) | Sr. | 6-1 | 185
Maehl was second team Class AA all-state after making 44 tackles and intercepting two passes.

DB — Zack Tallman, Billings West | Sr. | 5-10 | 165
Tallman made the Class AA all-state second team and had 72 tackles and two interceptions last year.

AP — Jett Rebish, Big Sky (Missoula) | Sr. | 5-10 | 165
Rebish earned honorable mention honors as a special teams player on the Class AA all-state team.



P — Maxwell Davis, Skyview (Billings) | Sr. |
Davis was one of the top punters in the state as a junior with a 36.8 average including a long of 67 yards.

Second Team Offense

QB — Rylan DeVries, Huntley Project (Worden) | Sr. | 5-9 | 150
A Class B all-state second team selection, DeVries threw for 1,300 yards last year with 10 touchdowns.

QB — Bridger Grovom, Capital (Helena) | Sr. | 6-0 | 160
A four-sport standout, Grovom threw for 1,815 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior.

RB — Mason Dionne, Havre | Sr. | 5-11 | 200
A Class A all-state pick, Dionne was the third-leading rusher in the class last year, racking up 1,228 yards and 13 touchdowns.

RB — Asher Croy, Huntley Project (Worden) | Sr. | 6-0 | 209
A Class B all-state selection, Croy rushed for 2,173 yards last year with 32 touchdowns.

WR — Drew Deck, Glacier (Kalispell) | Sr. | 5-9 | 155
Committed to Montana, Deck caught 55 passes for 781 yards and seven touchdowns last year.



WR — Oran Nash-Bergen, Billings Senior | Sr. | 5-6 | 140
Caught 67 passes for 1,213 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior and earned second team Class AA all-state honors.

TE — Austin Aman, Huntley Project (Worden) | Sr. | 5-10 | 155
A Class B all-state selection, Aman caught 33 passes for 379 yards and four touchdowns.

OL — Mason Jacobsen, Belgrade | So. | 6-3 | 230
Look for Jacobsen to be the state's top offensive lineman by the time he's done as he made All-Central A first team as a freshman last year.

OL — Taylor Gladeau, Columbia Falls | Sr. | 6-1 | 260
A first team Class A all-state pick at center, Gladeau was also first team All-Northwestern A Conference.

OL — Cole Dalager, Flathead (Kalispell) | Sr. | 6-4 | 275
Named honorable mention Class AA all-state team at offensive guard.

OL — Lucas Kingston, Butte | Sr. | 6-0 | 230
Named honorable mention Class AA all-state team at offensive guard.

OL — Brandon Spencer, Sentinel (Missoula) | Sr. | 6-0 | 300
Earned honorable mention status at center on the Class AA all-state team.



AP — Justus Peterson, Beaverhead County (Dillon) | Sr. | 6-4 | 180
A Class A all-state selection as a junior, Peterson threw for 1,695 yards and 15 touchdowns and also rushed for 452 yards and six scores.

K — Eric Gardner, Flathead (Kalispell) | Sr. | 5-9 | 135
An honorable mention Class AA all-state kicker, Gardner booted three field goals and 53 extra points last year.

Second Team Defense

DL — Zayne Konkol, Belgrade | Sr. | 6-0 | 235
Konkol earned Class A all-conference honors after posting 28 tackles and two sacks.

DL — Journey Grimsrud, Huntley Project (Worden) | Sr. | 6-3 | 245
Bound for the University of Montana, Grimsrud had 42 tackles, six sacks and 20 tackles for loss.

DL — Aaron Richards, Butte Central Catholic (Butte, Mont.) | Sr. | 6-3 | 230
The Class A all-state lineman will play at Montana State next year.

LB — Kadyn Craigle, Capital (Kalispell) | Sr. | 5-10 | 185
Craigle had 87 tackles and made honorable mention Class AA all-state.



LB — Brandon Schmid, Sentinel (Missoula) | Sr. | 5-9 | 170
Schmid made honorable mention Class AA all-state and had 50 tackles on the season.

LB — Zane McCormick, Capital (Glacier) | Sr. | 5-11 | 190
One of the leading tacklers in the state, McCormick had 131 tackles and earned honorable mention all-state honors.

LB — Benjamin Held, Great Falls | Sr. | 5-10 | 185
Held made honorable mention Class AA all-state and racked up 113 tackles with 12 tackles for loss.

DB — Chance Sheldon-Allen, Flathead (Kalispell) | Sr. | 5-9 | 160
Sheldon-Allen picked off five passes during the season and made 48 tackles while earning Class AA all-state second team honors.

DB — Jack Waddell, Laurel | Jr. | 5-9 | 140
As a sophomore at Park, Waddell had 58 tackles and four interceptions last year.

DB — Cade Baker, Frenchtown | Sr. | 6-0 | 150
A Class A all-state player, Baker had two interceptions last year, but he also threw for 1,011 yards.

DBAvery Stiles, Jefferson (Boulder) | Sr. | 6-1 | 180
A second team all-state selection in Class B, Stiles is one of the returning leaders in interceptions with five last year.



AP — Connor Ryan, Billings West | Sr. | 6-2 | 192
Headed to Montana next year, Ryan was honorable mention Class AA all-state as a kick returner.

P — Conner Schwend, Hardin | Sr. | 5-11 | 170
Schwend was one of the leading punters in the state as a junior with a 37.4 yard average.
