Preview: Perry County Vikings vs. Collinwood Trojans
The Perry County Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Collinwood Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Perry County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
Perry County pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Summertown by a score of 64-61. While losing is never fun, Perry County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while Summertown is ranked 119th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Colton Pevahouse, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten assists. Landon Warren was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Collinwood's 11-game losing streak came to an end two weeks ago. They enjoyed a cozy 53-38 win over Hughes. That 15 points margin sets a new team best for Collinwood this season.
Perry County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Collinwood, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-9.
Perry County beat Collinwood 63-56 when the teams last played on January 5th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Perry County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
