Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Barnstable). Their defense stepped up to hand the Sandwich Blue Knights an 8-0 shutout on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what Barnstable needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Barnstable pushed their record up to 7-3-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for Sandwich, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7-2.

Looking ahead, Barnstable will welcome Brockton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sandwich, they will head out to square off against Falmouth at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
