Watch highlights of the MaxPreps All-State standout who was the No. 2 overall pick in the Major League Baseball Draft.

The state of California had the No.1 pick in the Major League Baseball Draft in Royce Lewis of JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano) and the No. 1 recruit in the nation by Perfect Game in Hunter Greene of Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks), but neither of those players is the MaxPreps California State Large Schools Player of the Year.

Instead, the honor goes to junior Grant Holman of Eastlake, who had a phenomenal year at the plate and on the mound in leading his team to a San Diego Section Open Division championship.

Holman went 10-0 on the mound for the second-straight season and had 120 strikeouts. At the plate, Holman was one of the state leaders with 12 home runs. He was also chosen as the San Diego Section Player of the Year.

Lewis and Greene join Holman on the large schools team, which consists of 60 players on first and second teams.

Mike Gonzalez of El Toro is the MaxPreps Large Schools Coach of the Year. The Southern Section Division 1 Coach of the Year and the Los Angeles Times All-Area Coach of the Year, Gonzalez led El Toro to a Southern Section Division 1 championship.
