Football Recap: Providence Christian Academy Storm vs. Commerce Tigers
Providence Christian Academy had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-8 to make it four. They were outmatched by the Commerce Tigers and fell 52-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Storm were not able to get on the board.
As for Commerce, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Jace Lyle was his usual excellent self, rushing for 178 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. He is becoming a predictor of Commerce's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 2-1 (and 0-7 when he doesn't). Ty Sorrells was another key player, gaining 83 total yards and two touchdowns.
Providence Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wesleyan at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th.
