Recap: Burrillville Broncos vs. St. Raphael Academy Saints
On Saturday, The Burrillville Broncos faced the St. Raphael Academy Saints in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Burrillville fell to St. Raphael Academy 12-6. Burrillville lost against St. Raphael Academy in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 28-0 score last time.
The team lost despite holding St. Raphael Academy to a paltry 168 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Burrillville's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Ethan Murphy and his two sacks.
Among those leading the charge was Aaron Julius, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Burrillville's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for St. Raphael Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
Burrillville will head out on the road to face off against Westerly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westerly is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games. As for St. Raphael Academy, they will be playing at home against South Kingstown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. South Kingstown is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
