Soccer Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence lost against Sun Valley back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Patriots lost 5-0 to the Spartans. While losing is never fun, Independence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Sun Valley are ranked 75th).

Independence dropped their record down to 4-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Sun Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5-2.

Coming up, Independence is taking a road trip to take on East Mecklenburg at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Independence are facing East Mecklenburg at the right time seeing as East Mecklenburg are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Sun Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, a 4-3 victory against Cuthbertson on the 29th.
