Volleyball Recap: Swallows Charter Academy Starts Season with Win on the Road

Swallows Charter Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Rocky Ford Meloneers with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Meloneers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

One reason for the win was Swallows Charter Academy's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-17, 25-14.

Taylor Bond paced Swallows Charter Academy's offense, picking up six kills. Bond got some help from Sydnee Borden and her seven assists. Borden was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Rocky Ford's defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Swallows Charter Academy will face off against Walsenburg at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rocky Ford, they will challenge The Vanguard School at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
