Basketball Recap: Lyman Comes Up Short

Lyman was the 69-37 winner over Lake Mary Prep when they last played one another back in January of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Greyhounds took a 61-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Griffins on Thursday.

When it comes to explaining why Lyman lost, don't look at Ayden Rice. Despite the final result, he went 5-for-10 en route to 14 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Mustansir Dalal, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Lake Mary Prep was led to victory by Eric Sabb and Jake Caporaso. Sabb shot 56% from the field on his way to 21 points along with eight assists and five boards, while Caporaso dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Caporaso a new career-high in shooting accuracy (73%). Michael Guevara was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Lyman's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lake Mary Prep, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Lyman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-35 defeat against Freedom on the 21st. As for Lake Mary Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-33 victory against Titusville on the 21st.
