Softball Recap: Gallatin Victorious

Gallatin's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the Portland Panthers get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Green Wave, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Olivia Downs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Gallatin let Isabella Palmer and Morgan Baskerville run wild. Palmer went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Baskerville went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Palmer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rose Steele, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Gallatin's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gallatin will take on Trousdale County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Portland, they will challenge White House-Heritage at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
