Football Recap: Irvine Vaqueros vs. Sonora Raiders
Irvine was the 41-7 winner over Sonora when they last played one another back in September of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Irvine Vaqueros took a 28-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sonora Raiders on Thursday. While the Vaqueros had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Raiders 7-0.
Anthony Abad was his usual excellent self, rushing for 215 yards and three touchdowns for Sonora. Abad's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 125 rushing yards.
This is the second loss in a row for Irvine and nudges their season record down to 6-4. As for Sonora, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-4.
As of now, neither Irvine nor Sonora have any future games scheduled.
