Basketball Recap: Hoopeston Victorious

Hoopeston's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Donovan Wildcats by a score of 47-38. The Cornjerkers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Brayden Walder was his usual excellent self, shooting 42% from the field on his way to 21 points along with eight boards and three steals. Those eight rebounds gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Miller, who posted eight points in addition to five boards and four blocks.

Donovan lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Collin Carlson, who had 11 points and eight rebounds. Preston Harrington-Dewitt was another key player, putting up ten points and five boards.

Hoopeston's record now sits at 2-4. As for Donovan, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Hoopeston has already played their next game, a 49-45 defeat against St. Thomas More on the 11th. As for Donovan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 49-34 win against Illinois Lutheran on the 9th.
