Softball Game Preview: Hill-Murray Pioneers vs. Duluth East Greyhounds

The Hill-Murray Pioneers will head out on the road to face off against the Duluth East Greyhounds at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Hill-Murray is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Simley by a score of 19-18 on Thursday.

Jayda Mackey led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base was her first of the season. Malia Mauer was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Duluth East didn't have quite enough to beat Grand Rapids on Wednesday and fell 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Greyhounds have lost by just one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Duluth East and nudges their season record down to 4-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Hill-Murray, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 7-4.
