Baseball Game Preview: Catholic Crusaders vs. Kellam Knights

The Catholic Crusaders will challenge the Kellam Knights at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Catholic got the win against Broadwater Academy by a conclusive 19-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.

Charlie Loiselle made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Catholic is 2-1 when Loiselle allows one or fewer hits, but 9-11 otherwise. Loiselle was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Stone Soleau was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Connor Thompson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.4.

Meanwhile, Kellam owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Landstown 2-0.

Kellam's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 11-12.
