Basketball Preview: Alvin Yellowjackets vs. Shadow Creek Sharks
Alvin is 0-7 against the Sharks since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Alvin Yellowjackets will look to defend their home court against the Shadow Creek Sharks at 1:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Alvin has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while the Sharks will arrive with 18 straight wins.
Last Wednesday, Alvin ended up a good deal behind the Oilers and lost 67-50. While losing is never fun, Alvin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 802nd, while the Oilers are ranked 210th).
In what's become a running theme this season, Shadow Creek gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Alief Elsik with a sharp 66-43 win.
Alvin has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-20 record this season. As for Shadow Creek, they pushed their record up to 26-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home.
Alvin was dealt a bruising 78-21 loss at the hands of the Sharks when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Shadow Creek's Michael Collins, who went 6 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 3 assists. Now that Alvin knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
