Basketball Recap: Lake Howell Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lake Howell can now relate to. They took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oviedo Lions. The Silverhawks haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the loss, Lake Howell still got an impressive performance from Isaac Buckley, who went 10 for 18 on his way to 27 points and seven rebounds. Buckley continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Fritz, who posted five points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oviedo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Terell James, who earned 12 points and five steals. That's the most steals James has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Bryant, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Lake Howell's defeat dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Oviedo, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-11.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Lake Howell will welcome Oakleaf at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Howell is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season. As for Oviedo, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Lions challenge the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Milton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Oviedo likes a good challenge.
