Soccer Recap: St. Petersburg Catholic Comes Up Short

St. Petersburg Catholic and Berkeley Prep squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but St. Petersburg Catholic had to settle for second. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers who were credited with the victory. The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons' one. The Barons were probably out for revenge after losing 3-1 to them when the teams met back in December of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jacob Arias wasn't going to let Berkeley Prep walk away unscathed as he scored both of St. Petersburg Catholic's goals, bringing his season total up to 16 goals.

St. Petersburg Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7-1 record this season. As for Berkeley Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6-3 record this season.

St. Petersburg Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Berkeley Prep, they will square off against Shorecrest Prep at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Shorecrest Prep will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Berkeley Prep surely won't give up without a fight.
