Baseball Game Preview: Austin Panthers vs. Irvin Rockets

For the second straight game, Austin will face off against Irvin. The Panthers will take on the Rockets at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Austin has now lost 17 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 27.

Austin fell victim to Irvin and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 14-0 to the Rockets. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Rockets since Friday.

For Irvin's part, Anthony Badajosa made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Badajosa a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Irvin is 3-1 when Badajosa posts three or more hits, but 8-11-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Eli Rivera was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Chacon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Irvin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Irvin's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-12-1. As for Austin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-23.
