Emerald has no trouble against Strom Thurmond

Recap: Emerald Vikings vs. Strom Thurmond Rebels

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against McCormick, the Emerald Vikings were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 45-35 victory over Strom Thurmond. That looming 45-35 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Emerald yet this season.

Emerald can attribute much of their success to Key Holloway, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holloway has scored all season. Caleb Benson was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and five assists.

Strom Thurmond's loss came despite strong showings from Jordyn Lee and A.J. Walker. Lee scored 14 points, while Walker scored ten points along with nine rebounds.

The win got Emerald back to even at 2-2. As for Strom Thurmond, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Emerald will take on Ninety Six at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ninety Six is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Strom Thurmond, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Aiken at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully South Aiken focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
