Basketball Recap: Jessica Dawe's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Burwell over Nebraska Christian

Burwell was the 39-33 winner over Nebraska Christian when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Burwell Longhorns took a 46-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nebraska Christian Eagles on Saturday.

Burwell's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jessica Dawe, who posted ten points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Those seven rebounds gave Dawe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Mann, who earned eight points and three steals.

Burwell's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Nebraska Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-6.

Looking ahead, Burwell will challenge Heartland Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nebraska Christian, they will head out to face off against Palmer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
