Soccer Game Preview: Wheaton Academy vs. Maine West

Wheaton Academy will head out to face off against Maine West at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Wheaton Academy's favor is that they have posted at least four goals in their last four matchups.

Wheaton Academy is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering West Chicago just ended the team's eight-match winning streak on Monday. Neither they nor the Wildcats could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 4-4 draw. The result kept Wheaton Academy happy, as they haven't lost a game since September 21st.

They hit West Chicago with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Luke Rodriguez (2), Carlton Mcclure, and Mason Brooke.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Maine West, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They skirted past Elmwood Park 2-1. Given Maine West's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Elmwood Park are ranked 262nd) , the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Maine West now has a winning record of 7-6-3. With that draw, Wheaton Academy's record moves to 17-2-1.

Wheaton Academy took their win against Maine West in their previous meeting back in September of 2015 by a conclusive 4-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wheaton Academy since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
