            Softball Recap: New Deal Lions vs. Olton Mustangs        
        
		
        
        
            New Deal won the last time they faced Olton and things went their way  on Friday too. The Lions blew past the Mustangs 20-2. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Lions.
 Niassa Saldana made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She  tossed three innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   four  hits. Saldana was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Kammy McNeil was a standout: she got on base  in all four of her plate appearances with one  home run, six  RBI,  and three  runs. That  home run was  her first of the season.  Jazmynn Hernandez was another key player,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with one  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs.
 New Deal  lost a few balls and  finished the game with two  home runs. That's the most  home runs they've managed all season.
New Deal picked up their first road  win, bumping their record up to 4-10. As for Olton, their defeat was  their fifth straight at home, which  dropped their record down to 1-14.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Deal will host Ralls  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Jackrabbits have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.55  runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Olton, they will be playing at home against Sudan  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
