Basketball Recap: Valley Triumphs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Valley had no problem doing just that on Friday. They skirted past the Manila Mustangs 55-53. For the Buffalos, this counts as revenge for the 45-32 victory the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2023.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ruthanna Wilson, who posted 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Wilson has become a key player for Manila: the team is 10-5 when she posts at least three steals, but 5-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kallie Bair, who shot 45% from the field en route to 14 points.

Valley's win bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Manila, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-12.

Valley has already played their next match, a 39-29 defeat against Whitehorse on the 1st. Manila does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
