Basketball Recap: Golden West Comes Up Short

Golden West lost against Redwood back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Golden West Trailblazers lost to the Redwood Rangers on the road by a 56-37 margin. While losing is never fun, the Trailblazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 706th, while the Rangers are ranked 299th).

Cole Gilcrest was a one-man wrecking crew for Redwood as he went 6 of 7 on his way to 16 points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Gilcrest has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elijah Casas, who posted 11 points and seven boards.

Golden West now has a losing record at 13-14. As for Redwood, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Golden West has already played their next game (against Monache), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Redwood will challenge El Diamante at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Redwood is facing El Diamante at the right time seeing as El Diamante is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
