Baseball Recap: Patterson Takes a Loss

Patterson suffered their biggest loss since February 15th on Monday. They came up short against the Central Catholic Raiders, falling 15-8. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 4-3 to the Raiders when the teams met back in February of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Max Medina was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Medina was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Jimmy Chagoya was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Guy Allard also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Even though they lost, Patterson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

This is the second loss in a row for Patterson and nudges their season record down to 8-6. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Central Catholic, their victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5.

While Patterson had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
