Basketball Recap: Mount Zion Christian Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Wake County Academy HomeSchool last Monday, Mount Zion Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Mount Zion Christian Academy Mighty Warriors took a 71-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Combine Academy Global Goats. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mighty Warriors came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Goats are ranked 378th).

Combine Academy Global's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier Eddington led the charge by going 11-for-20 on his way to 26 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Eddington's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Miguel Gameiro, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine assists.

Mount Zion Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Combine Academy Global, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.

As of now, neither Mount Zion Christian Academy nor Combine Academy Global have any future games scheduled.
