Recap: Highland Prep Honey Badgers vs. Mountainside Wolves
The Highland Prep Honey Badgers posted their biggest win since December 15, 2023 on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 89-29 win over Mountainside at home. Given Highland Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Mountainside is ranked 333rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Josiah Cheeks was on fire: he almost dropped a triple-double on 23 points, nine steals, and nine blocks. That's the first time this season that he posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Kohen Hill, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and five steals.
Highland Prep's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-9. As for Mountainside, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Highland Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Phoenix Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Phoenix Christian will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak. As for Mountainside, they will be playing at home against Glendale Prep Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
